For my own reference and others, a list of Castiel's powers and limitations per Supernatural canon:

The full extent of angelic powers has not, I think, been fully explored by the canon, but from what we've seen, Castiel has shown the following abilities:

He's unaffected by most human weaponry or items that would injure or kill many other supernatural creatures. On the other hand, he can totally get beat up (blunt trauma that doesn't last long) or exorcised by a strong enough demon and may be killed by another angel -- and apparently ONLY by another angel.
He has power over human consciousness, primarily the ability to put people to sleep by placing two fingers on their forehead. This forehead touch is actually the manner in which angels seem to exert control in several different ways: to send people back in time (a limited ability) or alter a person's memories. He can also enter into people's dreams.
He has mad crazy teleportation skills. Not just of himself and his human host, either, though it's not clear what limits there might be on transporting other people or objects. The manner of this transportation is not clear -- it's presented visually with camera cuts, but it's often accompanied by the sound of flapping wings.
Oh yes, he has wings. We never see them physically, only in shadow.
He can cast a demon out of a person by putting his hand on their head. He can also banish other angels, but this is a far more involved process involving blood and symbology and things.
He can restore a dead and damned individual to life and health. This is a very, VERY rare thing and only done on orders from on very high, and it uses and expends a crapload of destructive energy (like, building/forest leveling).
He can move things telekinetically (this apparently involves holding his hand outstretched and looking intent).
Also, he can turn off car alarms with a wave of his hand.

To go with all that, how about some limitations?

He can be banished, removed from his host by an exorcism ritual or by another angel or sent away bodily using the bloody angel banishing symbol. There are also symbols and amulets to be used which will KEEP an angel away or hide one from the angel's sight. (Which he can carve into your ribs just by tapping you on the chest. Yeah.)
He can be cut, bruised, battered, bloodied -- by a demon at the very least. Just, you know, he's got a quick recovery time. He can be killed by another angel, or fall and become human by removing his "grace".
He can't heal people. Or, at the very least, he won't without orders from on high. His fellow angels threaten to turn people to dust a lot, but never actually do it -- either this is all bluster, or again, it's something they'll only do on very specific orders.
He can't change history -- despite being able to send people back in time. As a corollary, there's no evidence of him being able to see, visit, or otherwise learn about the future. He can go by written prophesy, but that's it. He's down with changing the prophesied future, but only under very, very, very particular circumstances.
He can't talk to God. Apparently only the really super special angels get to do that, and no one Castiel has talked to is that special. He's going on faith that there's an ultimate force of good as much as anyone else.
He can be trapped in a circle of holy fire. However, apparently all he needs to do to escape is to mind-whammy a few bolts and then WALK ON TOP OF A DEMON. (Yeah. 'Cause that's super easy to do.)
If he spends too long away from his fellow angels, he gradually loses his powers and becomes human. Also, kinda totally nutty. It's a thing.
