". . . really, it's the least you'll have to worry about once the kittens are born," Castiel was telling Angelbane. She'd started shuffling slowly after him everywhere he went, mewing at him. He was following all the rules for pregnant cat care he'd found online -- he wasn't sure what she wanted from him.

Other than possibly to eat his wings.

Cas blinked. Right, he had to do this last time too. "I'm Cas Winchester! And you're my father!"

Castiel's response was immediate and required little thought. "No I'm not."

Cas rolled his eyes, then spread his wings. "Yes, you really are."

Castiel's eyes widened. "That is a compelling argument." Wait, hadn't Dean mentioned -- "You're also Dean's, aren't you?"

"That's Dad, yep," Cas confirmed. "But Dad seems to have a lot of kids across the various realities."

"He is rather prolific." Castiel looked down at Cas consideringly. "You realize you're a physical impossibility."

"You realize Dad wouldn't like you calling me that. He'd say it hurts my self esteem."

"But it's the truth. Your father and I are both currently in occupation of male bodies."

Cas shrugged. "Dad always said it was some weird 'angel mating mojo' and said he'd explain exactly what that means when I'm older."

"Older than what?" Castiel knew better than to expect a reasonable answer to that, just now, and pulled out his phone. "I think, perhaps, I will try calling your father."

"Dad's Dad," Cas informed him. "You're Father. Or sometimes Papa, but you prefer Father."

"It's not an abbreviation," explained Castiel. "It's the full, proper term."

"That's what you always say," Cas confirmed. "Then Dad rolls his eyes and tells you to lighten up."

"Yes, that sounds like your fa -- dad." Castiel dialed and left Dean a short message. "You say your name is Cas?"

Cas nodded. "Dad's always said I should be grateful my name isn't 'The Boy' or 'Nephil' and if I ever have any siblings, he's not letting you have any say in naming them."

"They would both be descriptive terms," Castiel pointed out. "Though I would perhaps have gone with 'The Child'."

"I won't always be a child though," Cas pointed out reasonably.

Oh, right. Mortals aged. "You get that from your dad."

"I get a lot from my Dad," Cas said. "He says that's what makes me awesome."

"What does he say what you got from me makes you?"

"Exasperating."

Castiel sighed. "Of course."

Cas crouched down again to pet Angelbane some more. "Is Dad around?"

"No, he's hunting with his . . . Alec." Castiel watched him with Angelbane for a moment. "I take it Angelbane isn't present when you're from?"

"It's a slightly different reality," Cas said, pronouncing the big words slowly but correctly. "He and Uncle Sam never came to Fandom. And if you did, you've never told me."
